Bronze Hand Held
Hand Held are cast iron sculptures made by casting the shape inside the artists cupped hands. Hand Held are intended to be touched and held. Each sculpture is solid iron, and weighs about 680 grams.
These sculptures were initially created as part of a series of artworks created using iron made at the Glenbrook Steelworks, that mines black magnetic sand and transform that sand into iron, and then steel.
Each bronze sculpture sits on a rimu wooden base, made by hand from recycled wood. Finished with linseed oil, these wooden bases were originally mid-century stair treads.
